I think I can take a deep breath now.
SInce February my mom has been dealing with a 9mm kidney stone blocking her ureter and causing her right kidney to fail, I'll skip the boring details and just say she's finally recovering. The Jesusita Fire missed us, but caused a few uneasy days while the area across the freeway was under mandatory evacuations. We received 2 tiny 4 week old kittens, The four big kids got adopted hours after being released for adoption and we got 4 more tiny 4 week olds from the same feral colony. They were sick and starving and after 2 rounds of antibiotics, they are beginning to gain weight and behave like kittens.
I breathed a sigh of relief and thought the worst was over and then my nephew began having panic attacks. All his tests have come back negative, his doctor recommended medication similar to what his dad takes, but he refused and wants to try the methods the ER doctor recommended first. The last of the kittens from the feral colony were caught and we were given the one that was the same size as our others. Last weekend we got 4 , 2 week old kittens. Luckily enough, their mom was found Monday and she accepted them back quite happily.
( Kitteny goodness... )
